In Lesson 1.9 you learned the major keys of C, G, D and F major. In this lesson you will learn the keys of A, B flat and E flat major. This will take you up to 3 sharps and three flats as required for the following grades at ABRSM and Trinity College London
- Grade 1 ABRSM C, G, D, F major
- Grade 1 Trinity C, G, F major
- Grade 2 ABRSM adds A, B flat and E flat major
- Grade 3 Trinity D, B flat major
- Grade 4 Trinity A, E flat major
Below are shown the key signatures of all the keys you need to know by now along with the tonic triad for each key.
Notice the order and position of the sharps and flats in each key signature. This must be kept the same every time you write these.
A little trick... You really need to remember the order and position of the one with the most sharps/flats because the ones with less sharps/flats will use the first one or two of these. For example:
A major has three sharps, D major uses the first two of these three (and in the same order) and G major uses just the first of these three.
